Experience Authentic Rural Tourism in Raqchi – 2 Days / 1 Night

Early in the morning, the staff of Peru Expeditions will pick up travelers from their hotels in our tour bus to begin the experiential tourism journey from Cusco to Raqchi. The scenic drive takes approximately 3 hours.

Upon arrival in Raqchi, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your local hosts. After a short break, you’ll dive into daily life with the villagers. Activities include visiting traditional homes, participating in agricultural and livestock tasks, and learning about the unique customs and lifestyle of the Raqchi community.
Residents are known for their hospitality and take great pride in sharing their culture with visitors, often encouraging word-of-mouth recommendations to help others discover their community.

At lunchtime, you’ll enjoy a typical homemade meal prepared by your host family. In the evening, gather for a traditional dinner and cultural show, where villagers—dressed in handcrafted traditional attire—present music, dance, and storytelling. The entire experience is lovingly prepared, especially by the women of the community, offering a warm and authentic encounter with Andean heritage

After breakfast, we’ll take a guided tour of the Temple of Wiraqocha, an important Inca archaeological site. According to historical chronicles, the temple was built by the Inca Wiraqocha in honor of the Supreme Invisible God of the Andean people: Apu Kon Titi Wiraqocha.

During the visit, you’ll explore the storage structures, traditional houses, ceremonial platforms, and the messenger’s house, among other fascinating remains that reflect the architectural and spiritual legacy of the Incas.

Following the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to observe and purchase local handicrafts and textiles, handmade by the villagers of Raqchi using ancestral techniques.

We’ll then enjoy one last typical Andean lunch with our host families before saying goodbye to this unforgettable cultural experience.
