Visit the sacred Machu Picchu with a professional guide specialized in Andean anthropology and culture, offering deep insight into the legacy of the Inca civilization
our day begins with a scenic drive through the local neighborhoods of Cusco before heading south to Yanaoca, a traditional Andean town located in the Canas Province. After a 2-hour drive, we’ll continue for another hour to reach the legendary Q’eswachaka Bridge, an authentic Inca rope bridge made entirely of woven ichu grass—a tradition maintained by four local communities and rebuilt every June as part of an ancestral ritual.
Perched at 3,700 meters (12,140 ft), this UNESCO-recognized site offers a rare glimpse into the living heritage of the Inca civilization. You’ll explore the area while your expert guide shares the fascinating history of Q’eswachaka and the communities that preserve it.
After enjoying a delicious local lunch, we’ll head to the highland region of Acomayo to visit the stunning lagoons of Pampamarca, Asnacqoccha, Acopia, and finally Pomacanchi Lagoon, known for its tranquil waters and breathtaking Andean landscapes. Keep an eye out for native wildlife and endemic plants along the way!
Following our visit to Pomacanchi Lagoon (elevation: 3,679m / 12,070ft), we’ll begin our return journey to Cusco. From there, we continue for approximately 1.5 hours to reach Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board an evening train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, you’ll have free time to explore the charming town of Aguas Calientes before checking into a comfortable hostel accommodation (hotel upgrade available upon request). Before the day ends, we’ll go over your Machu Picchu tour details and set the perfect wake-up time for your unforgettable visit to the Lost City of the Incas.
Start your day early with a nourishing breakfast before your expert guide picks you up from your hotel at 5:40 a.m. You’ll take the shuttle bus up the mountain to reach the majestic Machu Picchu in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Andes.
Begin a 2-hour guided walking tour of the ancient citadel, uncovering its temples, terraces, and mysteries as your guide shares the rich history and spiritual significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the tour, enjoy free time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace—take photos, climb optional viewpoints (like the Sun Gate or Inca Bridge), or simply soak in the awe-inspiring atmosphere.
After your visit, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time for lunch and a bit of relaxation. Later, board the scenic train to Ollantaytambo, where a private transfer will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco. Arrival is typically in the evening—full of memories from an unforgettable day in the Andes.
